Bears runningback and first round bust Cedric Benson was arrested for the official crime of the University of Texas: Boating While Intoxicated. His attorney said he has a terrific defense planned, which will basically just consist of him asking the judge what the hell else one is supposed to do on a boat in a lake.

Benson was pepper-sprayed for resisting arrest, meaning he broke at least one more tackle than he did all last season.

The Bengals had their second arrest of the year, with linebacker Ahmad Brooks being accused of punching a woman in the face. To his credit, she was dressed up like Chiefs wide receiver Jeff Webb.

As my colleague Rosolio loves to point out, if he was on Pittsburgh he’d be okay. I think he’s just nervous because there have been five arrests in the AFC North this year and none have been from the Ravens…how much longer can that last?

Everyone knows this is the year the Browns are back. The Arizona Cardinals / Detroit Lions of 2008, the offseason moves in Cleveland are going to put them over the top in the AFC North. While the verdict is still out on that, one thing is for sure: Cleveland is not going quietly into the night in the 2008 Thug Race, as defensive back Kenny Wright found himself in bracelets for possession of marijuana and resiting arrest. He was finally snagged after a quarter-mile footrace, so if he was fellow Brown Donte Stallworth, he’d be a free man.

I bet you all thought the Steelers were going to run away with the ‘08 Thug Trophy. Chris Henry has struck for his AFC North bretheren, getting arrested for punching a guy in the face and smashing his car window. It was Henry’s fourth career arrest. This one’s not over, folks!

Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison was arrested today for breaking down a woman’s door and striking her in the face with an open hand. He’s being charged with simple assault and criminal mischief which, as evidenced by the history of fellow Steeler Najeh Davenport, means he likely finished his pimp-slap activities with a solid deuce in the victim’s laundry hamper.
