Canceled Olympic Sport of the Week

Ever year, although I’m not sure what it is this year, the International Olympic Comittee will allow a exhibition event at the games. Sometimes they stick around, sometimes they don’t. In 1996 it was mountain biking. That didn’t take. In 1998 it was snowboarding. That did. There have been others, and in honor of the upcoming Olympic Games we will be providing you with a weekly dose of some of the more absurd. These were all real events and are listed with the years held. Enjoy!
Note: While I don’t know that Dwarf Tossing was ever and Olympic event, I know there’s a rule against it on the NFL books.
Without further ado..
Rope climb (1896, 1904, 1924, 1932): Using only their hands, competitors try to see how fast they can get to the top of the rope.
