After finishing tied for second at Bethpage, Phil Mickelson now holds the record for most runner-ups in U.S. Open history.  And apparently that’s just not good enough.

After the round, Amy Mickelson, who is currently in the hospital preparing for breast cancer surgery, filed for divorce from her biggest loser husband citing “irreconcilable differences and those green jackets just don’t do it for me anymore.”

“Certainly I’m disappointed,” Mickelson said, “but now that it’s over, I’ve got more important things going on.”

For a brief moment, it seemed Lefty might finally leave with his fairy-tale finish and the trophy for his ailing, yet strangley demanding wife.  However, things turned all too familiar, when he missed two short par putts over the last four holes.

Then, as Mickelson watched some chump named Glover - possibly a distant relation to Danny.  We’re checking into it - being handed the trophy, he was handed a stack of divorce papers.

“Yeah that Glover guy, he’s not really my type but, sure, I’d go out with him,”  Amy Mickelson said.  “That may be the only way I ever get to see that trophy up close.”

Meanwhile, Mickelson heads home to an irrational wife and an even more uncertain future.

“She hasn’t even started the cancer treatments yet,”  Mickelson said.  “I don’t know.  Maybe she’s on her period.  Hopefully, she’ll come to her senses.”
