Melee in the Pepsi Center
DENVER - THE ALTERNATE FUTURE - One person is dead and several remain in critical condition as chaos broke out this Monday in Denver’s Pepsi Center during Game 4 of the heated playoff series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. Although there had been much speculation on the threats made by WWE CEO Vince McMahon towards Nuggets owner Stanley Kroenke and NBA Commissioner David Stern for cancelling that nights previously scheduled WWE RAW in favor of the playoff match, the game began as usual. But, seconds after the third quarter began with the Nuggets leading 46-44, the lights in the arena dimmed as a booming voice came over the house PA. “I told you ‘You would pay’, Kroenche!” echoed throughout the Pepsi Center as a series of unexpected pyrotechnics erupted by the locker room gate. As both the audience and players tried to make sense of this display, McMahon walked out to the center of the court with several WWE wrestlers flanking him closely. “I told you we would be here tonight, Kroenche! And don’t think I forgot about you, Stern!” McMahon declared.
But confusion turned to chaos, when one wrestler, who is believed to be called the Undertaker, approached Denver’s Carmello Anthony. A stare down ensued between the two, until Anthony broke the silence by reportedly saying, “Get this mascara wearing bitch out of my face.” as he shoved the Undertaker. The wrestlers charged the players on the court and proceeded to mock hit them. A number of the players looked disgusted with their would be attackers and walked back to their respective bench, but things turned ugly as one player, who police believe to be Denver player J.R. Smith, emerged with what reportedly resembled a prison shank and stuck Mr. McMahon several times in the ribs, mortally wounding him. Several wrestlers stopped flailing and stood in shock when their boss fell to the court bleeding. As one fan put it, “It was like they had never been in a real fight before.” Several members of the Nuggets squad charged the stunned wrestlers with the chairs from their bench and blindsided them with repeated blows to the head even after they had dropped to the ground. Police then stormed the court, breaking up the brawl.
The game has since been postponed until a full police report has been filed. As of this print, we have been unable to get a response from anyone involved in the altercation, besides Lakers Coach Phil Jackson who claimed that he “is too busy counting his championship rings to make a statement”. In seperate but related news, Laker Kobe Bryant is expected to be released from jail later today, after accusations surfaced of him making unwanted sexual advances towards WWE Diva Kelly Kelly after the skirmish.
